16Therefore, the promise comes by faith, that it may be according to grace, so that it might be guaranteed to all the offspring—not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who share the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.
17As it is written: 'I have made you a father of many nations.' He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.
5So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.
6And if by grace, then it is no longer based on works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.
7What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The chosen obtained it, but the rest were hardened.
11In Him we have also obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of the One who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
22The children inside her struggled with each other, and she said, 'If it is like this, why is this happening to me?' So she went to inquire of the LORD.
23The LORD said to her, 'Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated. One people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.'

34Abraham was the father of Isaac. The sons of Isaac were Esau and Israel.
