18So Samuel called to the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.
19And all the people said to Samuel, Pray for your servants to the LORD your God, that we do not die: for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask us a king.
10And the children of Israel cried out to the LORD, saying, We have sinned against You, both because we have forsaken our God and also served the Baals.
21And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he reported them in the ears of the LORD.
11And Samuel said, What have you done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you did not come within the appointed days, and that the Philistines gathered at Michmash,
12Therefore I said, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not sought the favor of the LORD; I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.
3And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and Ashtoreth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
30Then he said, I have sinned: yet honor me now, I pray you, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD your God.
4And it came to pass on the next day, that the people rose early, and built there an altar, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.
5And the children of Israel said, Who among all the tribes of Israel did not come up with the congregation to the LORD? For they had made a great oath concerning him who did not come up to the LORD at Mizpeh, saying, He shall surely be put to death.
6And the children of Israel felt sorry for Benjamin their brother, and said, Today one tribe is cut off from Israel.
12And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until evening, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they had fallen by the sword.
1And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian for seven years.
