8This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

7For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God; not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money;
8But hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled;
9Holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and to convict those who contradict.
21Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
22Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
1Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
2As newborn babies, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:
21Providing honorable things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
14As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts in your ignorance;
15Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.
17Brothers, join in following my example, and mark those who walk as you have us for a pattern.
7Moreover, he must have a good reputation with those outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8Likewise, the deacons must be dignified, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain;
1Therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
2But have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
7Therefore, as you abound in everything, in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us, see that you abound in this grace also.
7For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we did not behave disorderly among you.
14And let our people also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, that they may not be unfruitful.
6And to knowledge self-control; and to self-control patience; and to patience godliness;
7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love.
10But you have fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,
14That you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
14Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found by him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
