8Solomon replied to God,“You demonstrated great loyalty to my father David and have made me king in his place.
9Now, LORD God, may your promise to my father David be realized, for you have made me king over a great nation as numerous as the dust of the earth.
10Now give me wisdom and discernment so I can effectively lead this nation. Otherwise no one is able to make judicial decisions for this great nation of yours.”
11God said to Solomon,“Because you desire this, and did not ask for riches, wealth, and honor, or for vengeance on your enemies, and because you did not ask for long life, but requested wisdom and discernment so you can make judicial decisions for my people over whom I have made you king,
12you are granted wisdom and discernment. Furthermore I am giving you riches, wealth, and honor surpassing that of any king before or after you.”
8Your servant stands among your chosen people; they are a great nation that is too numerous to count or number.
9So give your servant a discerning mind so he can make judicial decisions for your people and distinguish right from wrong. Otherwise no one is able to make judicial decisions for this great nation of yours.”
10The Lord was pleased that Solomon made this request.
12I grant your request, and give you a wise and discerning mind superior to that of anyone who has preceded or will succeed you.
13Furthermore, I am giving you what you did not request– riches and honor so that you will be the greatest king of your generation.
7When Hiram heard Solomon’s message, he was very happy. He said,“The LORD is worthy of praise today because he has given David a wise son to rule over this great nation.”
7They said to him,“If you are fair to these people, grant their request, and are cordial to them, they will be your servants from this time forward.”
14Then the king turned around and pronounced a blessing over the whole Israelite assembly as they stood there.
15He said,“The LORD God of Israel is worthy of praise because he has fulfilled what he promised my father David.
23He prayed:“O LORD, God of Israel, there is no god like you in heaven above or on earth below! You maintain covenantal loyalty to your servants who obey you with sincerity.
24You have kept your word to your servant, my father David; this very day you have fulfilled what you promised.
47The king’s servants have even come to congratulate our master King David, saying,‘May your God make Solomon more famous than you and make him an even greater king than you!’ Then the king leaned on the bed
48and said this:‘The LORD God of Israel is worthy of praise because today he has placed a successor on my throne and allowed me to see it.’”
8Yet they will become his subjects, so they can experience how serving me differs from serving the surrounding nations.”

10They are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your mighty strength and by your powerful hand.
17Blessed are you, O land, when your king is the son of nobility, and your princes feast at the proper time– with self-control and not in drunkenness.
18What more can David say to you? You have honored your servant; you have given your servant special recognition.
19O LORD, for the sake of your servant and according to your will, you have done this great thing in order to reveal your greatness.

2Obey the king’s command, because you took an oath before God to be loyal to him.
28But respond favorably to your servant’s prayer and his request for help, O LORD my God. Answer the desperate prayer your servant is presenting to you today.
34Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching at my doors day by day, waiting beside my doorway.
7They said to him,“Today if you will be a servant to these people and grant their request, speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants from this time forward.”
32“So now, children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.
20Now, my master, O king, all Israel is watching anxiously to see who is named to succeed my master the king on the throne.
9Princesses are among your honored women, your bride stands at your right hand, wearing jewelry made with gold from Ophir.
6For you grant him lasting blessings; you give him great joy by allowing him into your presence.
25So now, O LORD God, make this promise you have made about your servant and his family a permanent reality. Do as you promised,
15How blessed are the people who experience these things! How blessed are the people whose God is the LORD!
11“Now, my son, may the LORD be with you! May you succeed and build a temple for the LORD your God, just as he announced you would.
29Now be willing to bless your servant’s dynasty so that it may stand permanently before you, for you, O Sovereign LORD, have spoken. By your blessing may your servant’s dynasty be blessed on into the future!”
