7or associate with these nations that remain near you. You must not invoke or make solemn declarations by the names of their gods! You must not worship or bow down to them!
8But you must be loyal to the LORD your God, as you have been to this very day.
6You Israelites! Return to the one against whom you have so blatantly rebelled!
16If you violate the covenantal laws of the LORD your God which he commanded you to keep, and follow, worship, and bow down to other gods, the LORD will be very angry with you and you will disappear quickly from the good land which he gave to you.”

17You must not take for yourself anything that has been placed under judgment. Then the LORD will relent from his intense anger, show you compassion, have mercy on you, and multiply you as he promised your ancestors.

9Then the LORD said to Moses:“I have seen this people. Look what a stiff-necked people they are!
13But correct the way you have been living and do what is right. Obey the LORD your God. If you do, the LORD will forgo destroying you as he threatened he would.
23Your ancestors, however, did not listen to me or pay any attention to me. They stubbornly refused to pay attention or to respond to any discipline.’
20Revere the LORD your God, serve him, be loyal to him and take oaths only in his name.
4You must not worship the LORD your God the way they worship.
4Do not turn to idols, and you must not make for yourselves gods of cast metal. I am the LORD your God.
