Is there not a cause? 30 He turned from him to another and spoke in the same way, and the people answered him again as before. 31 When the words that David spoke were heard, they repeated them before Saul, and he sent for him. 32 David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine. 33 Saul said to David, You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him, for you are just a youth, and he has been a man of war from his youth. 34 David said to Saul, Your servant kept his father's sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it, and rescued the lamb from its mouth. When it rose against me, I caught it by its beard, struck it, and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear, and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37 David said moreover, The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. Saul said to David, Go, and the LORD be with you. 38 Saul clothed David with his armor, put a bronze helmet on his head, and clothed him with a coat of mail. 39 David fastened his sword over his armor and tried to go, but he was not used to them. David said to Saul, I cannot go with these, for I am not used to them. And he arose out of his seat. 21 And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly: 22 And the handle also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out. 23 Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the chamber upon him, and locked them. 24 When he had gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that the doors of the chamber were locked, they said, Surely he is covering his feet in his summer chamber. 25 And they waited till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the chamber; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth. 26 And Ehud escaped while they waited, and passed beyond the quarries and escaped to Seirath. 27 And it came to pass, when he had arrived, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mountain, and he before them. 28 And he said to them, Follow after me: for the LORD has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and allowed not a man to pass over. 29 And they killed of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all strong, and all men of valor; and not a man escaped.
