  • Matt 18:23-35 : 23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But as he was not able to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshiped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you all. 27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. 28 But that same servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred pence; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me what you owe. 29 And his fellow servant fell down at his feet, and begged him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay you all. 30 And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very sorry, and came and told their lord all that had been done. 32 Then his lord, after he had called him, said to him, O wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you? 34 And his lord was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. 35 So also shall my heavenly Father do to you, if you do not forgive from your hearts every one his brother their trespasses.

  • Luke 16:2-9 : 2 And he called him and said to him, How is it that I hear this about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you may no longer be steward. 3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my master is taking away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg. 4 I have resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. 5 So he called every one of his master's debtors to him, and said to the first, How much do you owe my master? 6 And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said to him, Take your bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. 7 Then he said to another, And how much do you owe? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. And he said to him, Take your bill, and write eighty. 8 And the master commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. 9 And I say to you, Make friends for yourselves using the wealth of unrighteousness; that, when you fail, they may receive you into everlasting dwellings. 10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much: and he who is unjust in what is least is also unjust in much. 11 If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who will give you what is your own? 13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
