ነገር ግን በሰማይ ጌታ ላይ ራስህን ከፍ አነሣህ፤ የቤቱ ዕቃዎችን በፊትህ አመጡ አንተም አለቆችህ ሚስቶችህና ቁባቶችህ በእነርሱ ውስጥ ወይን ጠጣችሁ፤ የማያዩ የማይሰሙ የማያውቁ የብርና የወርቅ የናስ የብረት የእንጨትና የድንጋይ አማልክትን አመሰገንህ፤ ነፍስህ በእጁ ያለውን መንገዶችህም ሁሉ የእርሱ የሆኑትን አምላክ ግን አላከበርህም.

And against māreʾ-shəmayyāʾ hiṯərôməmətā and vessels dî-ḇayṯeh hayṯîw before qāḏāmāḵ and you wəʾantə and your nobles wəraḇrəḇānāḵ your wives šeḡəlāṯāḵ and your concubines ûləḥenāṯāḵ ḥamrāʾ šāṯayin with them, and to gods of silver and gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which not see and not hear and not know you šabbaḥətā; and to ʾelāhāʾ dî your breath nišmətāḵ in his hand bîḏeh and all your ways to him not haddarətā.

• 1 ሳሙ 5:1-9 : 1 ፍልስጥኤማውያን የእግዚአብሔርን ታቦት ወሰዱ፤ ከኤቤኔዘር ወደ አሽዶድ አመጡት። 2 ፍልስጥኤማውያን የእግዚአብሔርን ታቦት ሲወስዱ ወደ ዳጎን ቤት አገቡት፤ ከዳጎን አጠገብ አቆመው። 3 አሽዶድ ሰዎች ማግስት በጠዋት ተነሡ ሲመለከቱ፣ ዳጎን በእግዚአብሔር ታቦት ፊት ፊቱን ወደ ምድር ወድቆ ነበር። ዳጎንን አነሡት እንደ ነበረበትም እንደገና አቆመው። 4 በማግስቱ ጠዋት እንደገና ተነሡ ሲመለከቱ፣ ዳጎን በእግዚአብሔር ታቦት ፊት ፊቱን ወደ መሬት ወድቆ ነበር፤ የዳጎን ራስና ሁለቱ እጆቹ ተቈርጠው በመደርደሪያው ላይ ነበሩ፤ የዳጎን ግንድ ብቻ ቀረለት። 5 ስለዚህ እስከ ዛሬ ድረስ በአሽዶድ ያለው የዳጎን ቤት ካህናት ወይም ወደ ዳጎን ቤት የሚገባ ማንኛውም ሰው መደርደሪያውን አይረግጥም። 6 ነገር ግን የእግዚአብሔር እጅ በአሽዶድ ላይ ከባድ ሆነባቸው፤ አጠፋቸውም፥ አሽዶድንና አካባቢዋን ሁሉ በእጢ መታቸው። 7 አሽዶድ ሰዎች ይህን አይተው፣ የእስራኤል አምላክ ታቦት ከእኛ ጋር አይቀመጥም አሉ፤ ምክንያቱም እጁ በእኛም ላይ በአምላካችን በዳጎንም ላይ እጅግ ከባድ ሆኖአል። 8 ስለዚህ መልእክተኞችን ልከው የፍልስጥኤማውያንን አለቆች ሁሉ ወደ እነርሱ አሰበሰቡ፤ እንዲህም አሉ፦ በየእስራኤል አምላክ ታቦት ምን እንድናደርግ? እነርሱም መለሱ፦ የእስራኤል አምላክ ታቦት ወደ ጋት እንዲወሰድ። እነርሱም ታቦቱን ወደዚያ አመጡት። 9 እንዲህ ሆነ፤ ታቦቱን ከዘዋወሩ በኋላ የእግዚአብሔር እጅ በከተማው ላይ እጅግ ታላቅ ጥፋት አመጣ፤ የከተማውን ሰዎች ከታናናሾች እስከ ታላላቆች ድረስ መታ፤ በሚስጥራዊ አካላቸውም እጢ ደረሰባቸው።
