Therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law.

There is no commandment greater than these. 32 Then the scribe said to him, 'Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, that God is one, and there is no other besides him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.' 34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, 'You are not far from the kingdom of God.' And no one dared to question him any further.

  • 1 Cor 8:1-3 : 1 Now concerning food sacrificed to idols: we know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. 2 If anyone thinks they know something, they do not yet know as they ought to know. 3 But if anyone loves God, they are known by Him.
  • 1 Cor 13:1-14:1 : 1 If I speak in the tongues of people and of angels, but do not have love, I am like a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give everything I have to the poor and surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became an adult, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Pursue love, and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.

  • 1 John 4:7-9 : 7 Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 By this, the love of God was revealed among us: that God sent His only Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us. 13 By this, we know that we remain in Him and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as the Savior of the world.
