41When Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath and returned,
21'For I, your servant, know that I have sinned. But today I have come here as the first of the house of Joseph to come down to meet my lord the king.'
22But Abishai son of Zeruiah said, 'Shouldn't Shimei be put to death for this? He cursed the LORD's anointed!'
23But David said, 'What do you and I have in common, you sons of Zeruiah? Should anyone be put to death in Israel today? Don’t I know that today I am king over Israel?'
8And behold, you have with you Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite from Bahurim, who cursed me bitterly on the day I went to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the LORD that I would not put him to death by the sword.
9However, do not consider him innocent. You are a wise man, and you will know what you ought to do to him. Bring his gray head down to the grave in blood.
23Then King Solomon took an oath by the LORD: 'May God punish me ever so severely if Adonijah has not made this request at the cost of his own life!
24'And now, as surely as the LORD lives—the one who has established me, seated me on the throne of my father David, and made me a dynasty as He promised—Adonijah shall be put to death today!'
25Then King Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada, who struck down Adonijah, and he died.
29The king swore an oath and said, "As surely as the LORD lives, who has redeemed my life from every trouble,
30I will carry out today what I swore to you by the LORD, the God of Israel, saying: 'Your son Solomon will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne in my place.'

53So King Solomon sent men, and they brought Adonijah down from the altar. He came and bowed to King Solomon, who said to him, "Go to your home."

10"As surely as the LORD your God lives," he continued, "there is no nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to look for you. And whenever they said, 'He is not here,' he made the kingdom or nation swear that they could not find you.
32Absalom said to Joab, 'Look, I sent word to you, saying, “Come here so I can send you to the king to ask, 'Why did I come back from Geshur? It would have been better for me to remain there.'” Now, let me see the king’s face. If I am guilty of anything, let him put me to death.'
7You love those who hate you and hate those who love you. You have made it clear today that commanders and servants mean nothing to you. I can see that if Absalom were alive today and all of us were dead, it would have pleased you.

20‘You only came yesterday, so why should I make you wander with us today? I must go wherever I can. Return and take your brothers with you. May kindness and faithfulness be with you.’
17The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'Didn't I tell you that he never prophesies anything good about me, but only bad?'
