Ahimelech answered the king, 'Who among all your servants is as faithful as David, the king's son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard, and highly respected in your house?'

12 Saul said, 'Listen now, son of Ahitub!' And he replied, 'Here I am, my lord.'
13 Saul said to him, 'Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, giving him bread and a sword and inquiring of God for him, so that he has risen against me to lie in wait, as he does today?'
1 David got up and left, while Jonathan returned to the city.

6 So Achish called David and said to him, "As surely as the LORD lives, you have been upright, and your conduct with me in the camp has been good in my eyes. I have found no fault in you from the day you came to me until today. But the rulers don’t approve of you.
6 David then answered and said to Ahimelech the Hittite and to Abishai son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, "Who will go down with me to Saul in the camp?" Abishai said, "I will go down with you."
17 Saul recognized David’s voice and said, "Is that your voice, my son David?" David replied, "It is my voice, my lord the king."
18 And he added, "Why is my lord pursuing his servant? What have I done, and what wrong is in my hand?
55 When Saul saw David going out to confront the Philistine, he asked Abner, the commander of his army, 'Abner, whose son is this young man?' Abner replied, 'As surely as you live, O king, I do not know.'
56 The king said, 'Find out whose son this young man is.'

3 The Philistine commanders asked, "What are these Hebrews doing here?" Achish replied to the Philistine commanders, "Isn't this David, the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me for days or years? I have found no fault in him from the day he defected to me until now."
26 When Saul’s servants told David these words, it pleased David to become the king’s son-in-law. However, the allotted time had not yet passed.
9 David got up afterward, went out of the cave, and called after Saul, 'My lord the king!' When Saul looked behind him, David bowed down with his face to the ground and paid homage.

13 Go to King David and say to him, 'My lord the king, did you not swear to your servant, saying, "Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne"? Then why has Adonijah become king?'
58 Saul asked him, 'Whose son are you, young man?' David replied, 'I am the son of your servant Jesse of Bethlehem.'

32 Jonathan responded to his father Saul and asked, 'Why should he be put to death? What has he done?'
