    22 Then Samuel took Saul and his servant, brought them into the hall, and seated them at the head of those who had been invited—about thirty in number.

    23 Samuel said to the cook, "Bring the portion of meat I gave you, the one I told you to set aside."

    24 So the cook took up the thigh with what was on it and placed it before Saul. Samuel said, "Here is what was kept for you. Eat it, because it was reserved for you for this appointed occasion when I said, 'I have invited the people.'" And Saul ate with Samuel that day.

    25 After they came down from the high place to the town, Samuel spoke with Saul on the roof.

    26 They got up early, and at the break of dawn, Samuel called to Saul on the roof, saying, "Get up, and I will send you on your way." So Saul got up, and both he and Samuel went outside together.

    33 Someone reported to Saul, 'Look, the troops are sinning against the Lord by eating meat with blood in it.' Saul said, 'You have broken faith. Roll a large stone over here to me at once.'

    34 Then he said, 'Go among the men and tell them, ‘Each of you bring me your ox and sheep, and slaughter them here and eat. Do not sin against the Lord by eating meat with blood in it.’' That night, everyone brought their oxen and slaughtered them there.

    25 The entire army entered the forest, and there was honey on the ground.

    14 So they went up to the city, and as they were entering it, Samuel was coming out toward them on his way up to the high place.

  • 36 Saul said, 'Let us go down after the Philistines by night and plunder them until dawn. Let us not leave one of them alive.' They replied, 'Do whatever seems best to you.' But the priest said, 'Let us inquire of God here.'

  • 35 Then the people came to urge David to eat something while it was still day. But David took an oath, saying, 'May God deal with me, be it ever so severely, if I taste bread or anything else before the sun sets.'

  • 15 Then Saul sent the messengers back to see David, saying, 'Bring him to me in his bed so I can kill him.'
