  • 2 Kgs 3:1 : 1 Jehoram, son of Ahab, became king over Israel in Samaria during the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, and he reigned for twelve years.
  • 2 Chr 21:1-9 : 1 Jehoshaphat rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the city of David. Then his son Jehoram became king in his place. 2 Jehoram had brothers, sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah. These were all sons of Jehoshaphat, the king of Israel. 3 Their father gave them many gifts of silver, gold, and valuable things, along with fortified cities in Judah. However, he gave the kingdom to Jehoram since he was the firstborn. 4 When Jehoram established his reign over his father's kingdom, he strengthened his position by killing all his brothers with the sword, as well as some of the leaders of Israel. 5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem. 6 He followed the ways of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for he had married a daughter of Ahab. So he did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord. 7 But the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David because of the covenant He had made with David, promising to give him and his descendants a lasting lamp. 8 During Jehoram's reign, Edom rebelled against Judah's control and appointed their own king. 9 Jehoram went out with his commanders and all his chariots. He rose during the night and struck down the Edomites who had surrounded him and their chariot commanders. 10 From that time to the present day, Edom has been in rebellion against Judah's authority. At that same time, Libnah also rebelled because Jehoram had abandoned the Lord, the God of his ancestors. 11 Jehoram also built high places in the hills of Judah, leading the inhabitants of Jerusalem into unfaithfulness and causing Judah to stray. 12 Then Jehoram received a letter from the prophet Elijah, which said, "This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: Because you have not followed the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or the ways of Asa, king of Judah..." 13 But you followed the ways of the kings of Israel and led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem into unfaithfulness, just as the house of Ahab led people into idolatry. You even killed your brothers, the members of your father's family, who were better than you. 14 So now the Lord is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives, and all your possessions with a devastating plague. 15 You yourself will suffer painful illnesses of your intestines until your intestines come out day by day because of the disease. 16 The Lord stirred up the Philistines and the Arabians who lived near the Cushites against Jehoram. 17 They attacked Judah, invaded it, and carried away all the possessions found in the king's palace, along with his sons and wives. The only son left to him was Jehoahaz, his youngest son. 18 After all these events, the Lord afflicted Jehoram with an incurable disease in his intestines. 19 Over time, after two years, his intestines came out because of his illness, and he died in terrible suffering. His people did not hold a fire in his honor, as they had done for his ancestors. 20 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem. He passed away to no one's regret and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
  • 1 Kgs 22:50 : 50 At that time, Ahaziah son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, 'Let my servants sail with your servants in the ships,' but Jehoshaphat refused.
