    12Therefore, son of man, say to your people, 'The righteousness of the righteous person will not save them on the day of their transgression, nor will the wickedness of the wicked person cause them to fall on the day they turn from their wickedness. The righteous person cannot live by their righteousness on the day they sin.'

    13If I say to the righteous person, 'You will surely live,' but they trust in their righteousness and commit iniquity, none of their righteous acts will be remembered. They will die because of the iniquity they have committed.

    14And if I say to the wicked person, 'You will surely die,' but they turn from their sin and do what is just and right—

  • 17You have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet you ask, 'How have we wearied Him?' By saying, 'Everyone who does evil is good in the eyes of the Lord, and He delights in them,' or 'Where is the God of justice?'

    18But his father, because he practiced extortion, robbed his own people, and did what was not good among them—behold, he will die for his iniquity.

    19Yet you ask, ‘Why does the son not bear the guilt of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right, has carefully observed all my statutes, and has kept them, he will surely live.

    20The soul who sins will die. The son will not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.

    30As for you, son of man, the people of your nation are talking about you near the walls and at the doorways of their houses. They are saying to one another, each to their brother, 'Come and hear the message that has come from the LORD.'

    31They come to you as people come, and they sit before you as My people and hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. With their mouths they express love, but their hearts pursue unjust gain.

  • 33You are righteous in all that has happened to us, because You have acted faithfully while we have acted wickedly.

  • 10This is what the LORD says about this people: They love to wander; they do not restrain their feet. So the LORD does not accept them; now He will remember their guilt and punish their sins.

  • 2Even when they say, 'As surely as the Lord lives,' they swear falsely.

  • 17For wickedness burns like a fire; it consumes briers and thorns. It sets the thickets of the forest ablaze, and they roll upward in columns of smoke.

  • 14Therefore, the LORD has kept the disaster in store and brought it upon us, for the LORD our God is righteous in everything He does, yet we have not obeyed His voice.

  • 20Again, if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and does wrong, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die. Since you did not warn him, he will die in his sin. His righteous acts will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.

  • 17They keep saying to those who despise the LORD, ‘The LORD says you will have peace.’ And to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his heart they say, ‘No harm will come to you.’

  • 24Whoever says to the wicked, 'You are righteous,' the peoples will curse him, and the nations will denounce him.

  • 22None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteousness they have practiced, they will live.

  • 4Therefore, the law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked hem in the righteous, so justice comes out distorted.

  • 7The path of the righteous is level; You, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth.

  • 22Because you disheartened the righteous with your lies when I had not caused them grief, and because you encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways to save their lives,

  • 27Therefore, speak to the house of Israel, son of man, and say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Yet in this, your fathers blasphemed me by acting treacherously against me.'

  • 9These are a rebellious people, deceitful children, unwilling to listen to the LORD's instruction.

  • 3Does God pervert justice? Does the Almighty distort what is right?

  • 5They have acted corruptly toward Him; they are not His children because of their defect—a crooked and perverse generation.

  • 11For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have been thoroughly unfaithful to Me, declares the Lord.

  • 25'Far be it from You to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from You! Will not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?'

  • 8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
