    1While Ezra was praying and confessing, weeping, and falling facedown in front of the house of God, a very large assembly of Israelites—men, women, and children—gathered around him, because the people were weeping bitterly.

    2Then Shecaniah son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, said to Ezra, "We have been unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women from the peoples around us. But even now there is hope for Israel regarding this.

  • 10When you tell these people all these words, they will ask you, 'Why has the LORD declared such a great calamity against us? What is our guilt? What is the sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?'

  • 15However, we will agree to you on one condition: if you become like us by every male among you being circumcised.

  • 2The descendants of Israel separated themselves from all foreigners, stood, and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their ancestors.

  • 10Obey the voice of the LORD your God and follow His commandments and statutes that I am giving you today.

  • 14Then the Levites shall declare to all the people of Israel in a loud voice:

  • 24The people said to Joshua, "We will serve the LORD our God and obey His voice.
