18For about forty years He endured their behavior in the wilderness.
15Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen trouble.
14Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.

7Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice,
17Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Allow them to do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
13Do not withhold discipline from a child; though you strike him with the rod, he will not die.
14You shall strike him with the rod and deliver his soul from Sheol.
18Discipline your son while there is hope, and do not desire his death.
14For I am stricken all day long and chastened every morning.
10He opens their ears to instruction and tells them to turn away from iniquity.
11If they listen and serve Him, they will complete their days in prosperity and their years in pleasure.
