Then the Lord said to me, "Go again and love a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress, just as the Lord loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love raisin cakes."

6During the reign of King Josiah, the LORD said to me, "Have you seen what faithless Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every spreading tree and has prostituted herself there."
7I thought, 'After she has done all this, she will return to me.' But she did not return, and her unfaithful sister Judah saw it.
8I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear; she also went out and prostituted herself.
9Because Israel's immorality mattered so little to her, she defiled the land and committed adultery with stone and wood.
10In spite of all this, her unfaithful sister Judah did not return to me with all her heart, but only in pretense, declares the LORD.
11The LORD said to me, "Faithless Israel is more righteous than unfaithful Judah."
20But like a woman unfaithful to her husband, so you, Israel, have been unfaithful to me,' declares the LORD.
7Their mother has been unfaithful; their conceiver acted shamefully. She said, 'I will go after my lovers, who give me my bread, water, wool, flax, oil, and drink.'
8Therefore, I will block her way with thorns and build a wall against her so that she cannot find her paths.
9She will chase after her lovers but not catch them; she will seek them but not find them. Then she will say, 'I will go back to my first husband, because it was better for me then than now.'
10She did not know that it was I who gave her the grain, the new wine, and the oil, and who lavished her with silver and gold, which they used for Baal.

2Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem: ‘This is what the LORD says: I remember the devotion of your youth, your love as a bride, how you followed me in the wilderness, in a land not sown.
2When the LORD first began speaking through Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea, "Go, take for yourself a wife of promiscuity and children of promiscuity, for the land is utterly unfaithful to the LORD."

15What right does my beloved have in my house, when she has done so many wicked schemes? Can consecrated meat remove your evil? Then you would exult!

11Judah has been unfaithful, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem. Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the Lord, which He loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.
13I will put an end to all her celebrations: her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her appointed festivals.
14I will destroy her vines and fig trees, which she thought were her wages from her lovers. I will turn them into a thicket, and wild animals will devour them.
15I will punish her for the days she burned incense to Baal, adorned herself with her rings and jewelry, and went after her lovers. But she forgot me, declares the LORD.
43Then I said about the one worn out by adultery, ‘Now they will continue their acts of fornication with her.’

7How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken Me and sworn by false gods. I satisfied them, but they committed adultery and gathered at the houses of prostitutes.
3I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me; for now, Ephraim, you have played the harlot; Israel is defiled.
1I have entered my garden, my sister, my bride; I have gathered my myrrh with my spices. I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, friends, and drink; be intoxicated with love.

14Yet you ask, 'Why?' Because the Lord has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your companion and the wife of your covenant.
4All this because of the abundant prostitution of a well-favored harlot, a skilled sorceress, who ensnares nations with her lust and peoples with her witchcraft.
28You prostituted yourself with the Assyrians because you were never satisfied. Even after prostituting yourself with them, you were not satisfied.
