5So they selected from the thousands of Israel a thousand men from each tribe, twelve thousand armed for battle.
6Moses sent them into battle, a thousand from each tribe, along with Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, who took the holy vessels and the trumpets for sounding the alarm in his hand.
12To the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said:
7When Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw this, he rose from among the assembly, took a spear in his hand,
8followed the Israelite man into the tent, and drove the spear through both of them—the Israelite man and the woman—into her belly. Then the plague against the Israelites was stopped.

6But Moses replied to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, "Should your brothers go to war while you stay here?
1The heads of the families of the Levites approached Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the families of the Israelite tribes.
3So Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke to them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan River near Jericho, saying,
2Send men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. You are to send one man from each ancestral tribe, each one a leader among them.
3So Moses sent them from the Wilderness of Paran at the LORD’s command. All of them were men who were leaders of the Israelites.
13Then the whole assembly sent a message to the Benjaminites at the rock of Rimmon, and they offered them peace.

12The tribes of Israel sent men throughout the tribe of Benjamin, saying, "What is this awful crime that has been committed among you?"
23The men of Israel from Naphtali, Asher, and all Manasseh were called out, and they pursued the Midianites.
25The sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben said to Moses, "Your servants will do just as my lord commands.
26'Take a count of the plunder that was captured, both man and beast, you and Eleazar the priest and the chief fathers of the congregation.'
14Then the tribe of Gad. The leader of the descendants of Gad is Eliasaph son of Reuel.
5He sent messengers to Balaam son of Beor at Pethor, which is by the river in the land of his people. They were to call him, saying, 'Look, a people has come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and are settling next to me.'
7Now divide this land as an inheritance for the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh.
8The other half-tribe, along with the Reubenites and the Gadites, has already received the inheritance that Moses gave them beyond the Jordan to the east, as the servant of the LORD had assigned to them.
14Instead, the Benjaminites gathered from their cities to Gibeah to go out to battle against the Israelites.
8Therefore, keep the words of this covenant and do them, so that you may prosper in all that you do.
12At that time, we took possession of this land, from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Valley, and half of the hill country of Gilead with its towns, and I gave them to the Reubenites and the Gadites.
16To the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the land extending from Gilead to the Arnon Valley, with the valley as the border, as far as the Jabbok River, the border of the Ammonites.
6Moses, the servant of the Lord, and the Israelites defeated them. And Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave their land as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh.
30From the Israelites' half, take one out of every fifty people, cattle, donkeys, sheep, or other animals. Give them to the Levites, who are responsible for the care of the LORD's tabernacle.
