Joshua 24:2
Joshua said to all the people, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Long ago, your ancestors, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.

1Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel at Shechem. He summoned the elders of Israel, their leaders, judges, and officers, and they presented themselves before God.
18The LORD drove out all the peoples before us, including the Amorites who lived in the land. We too will serve the LORD, for He is our God.
19Joshua said to the people, "You are not able to serve the LORD. He is a holy God; He is a jealous God. He will not forgive your transgressions or your sins.
20If you abandon the LORD and serve foreign gods, He will turn and bring harm to you and destroy you, after He has been good to you.
21But the people said to Joshua, "No! We will serve the LORD.
22Joshua said to the people, "You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the LORD." And they said, "We are witnesses."
23Now then," Joshua said, "put away the foreign gods that are among you, and direct your hearts toward the LORD, the God of Israel.
24The people said to Joshua, "We will serve the LORD our God and obey His voice.
9Joshua said to the Israelites, 'Come here and listen to the words of the LORD your God.'
10Joshua said, 'By this you will know that the living God is among you and that He will surely drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites, and Jebusites.'
12They abandoned the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt. They followed other gods, the gods of the peoples around them. They bowed down to them and provoked the LORD to anger.
7The people served the LORD throughout the lifetime of Joshua and the elders who outlived him and had seen all the great works the LORD had done for Israel.
1When all the people had finished crossing the Jordan, the LORD said to Joshua,
31Israel served the LORD during all the days of Joshua and all the days of the elders who outlived him, those who had experienced all the deeds the LORD had done for Israel.
2Joshua called all Israel together—its elders, leaders, judges, and officials—and said to them, 'I have grown old and am well along in years.'
3The LORD your God himself will cross ahead of you. He will destroy these nations before you, and you shall take possession of them. Joshua will cross ahead of you, as the LORD has said.
24They answered Joshua, 'Your servants were clearly told how the LORD your God had commanded His servant Moses to give you this entire land and destroy all its inhabitants before you. So we feared greatly for our lives because of you, and that is why we did this.'
2Stephen replied: 'Brothers and fathers, listen to me! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham while he was living in Mesopotamia, before he settled in Haran.
30Are these mountains not across the Jordan, westward, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, near the oaks of Moreh?
8They replied to Joshua, “We are your servants.” But Joshua said to them, “Who are you, and where do you come from?”
9They answered him, “Your servants have come from a very distant land because of the name of the LORD your God. For we have heard of His fame and all He did in Egypt,
7Joshua said, "Alas, Sovereign Lord, why did you bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan!
21He said to the Israelites, “In the future, when your children ask their fathers, ‘What do these stones mean?’
22You are to let your children know: 'Israel crossed the Jordan here on dry ground.'
1Then Joshua called the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.
10Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people:
3Joshua said to the Israelites, "How long will you delay entering to take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, has given you?
5and he said to them, “Cross ahead of the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take a stone on his shoulder, one for each of the tribes of the Israelites.
6This will serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’
64Then the LORD will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you will serve other gods—gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.
15Then the LORD said to Joshua,
12To the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said:
13“Remember the command that Moses, the servant of the LORD, gave you when he said: ‘The LORD your God will give you rest and will give you this land.’
26Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against this land, bringing upon it every curse written in this book.
