33 Josiah removed all the detestable idols from all the territories belonging to the Israelites, and he compelled everyone in Israel to serve the LORD their God. Throughout his reign, they did not turn aside from following the LORD, the God of their ancestors.
38 But Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, survived.
27 On that day, Joshua made them woodcutters and water carriers for the assembly and for the altar of the LORD at the place He would choose. And they continue to do so to this day.

7 Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel: 'Be strong and courageous, for you will bring this people into the land that the LORD swore to their ancestors to give them, and you shall divide it among them as their inheritance.'
27 So the LORD was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land.
24 They said to Joshua, "The LORD has surely given the whole land into our hands; all the inhabitants of the land are melting in fear because of us."
5 But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses, the servant of the LORD, commanded you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and all your soul.
6 Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell face down to the ground before the ark of the Lord, remaining there until evening. The elders of Israel did the same and put dust on their heads.
7 Joshua said, "Alas, Sovereign Lord, why did you bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan!
35 Not a single word of all that Moses had commanded was omitted; Joshua read it all to the entire assembly of Israel, including the women, the children, and the foreigners living among them.
27 And Joshua said to all the people, "See, this stone will serve as a witness against us. It has heard all the words the LORD has spoken to us. It will be a witness against you if you deny your God.
24 They answered Joshua, 'Your servants were clearly told how the LORD your God had commanded His servant Moses to give you this entire land and destroy all its inhabitants before you. So we feared greatly for our lives because of you, and that is why we did this.'
7 The LORD said to Joshua, 'Today I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, so that they may know that just as I was with Moses, I will be with you.'
9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites obeyed him and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.
