  • Matt 22:2-9 : 2 The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. 3 He sent his servants to call those who had been invited to the wedding, but they refused to come. 4 Again, he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited: Look, I have prepared my banquet; my oxen and fattened animals have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.' 5 But they paid no attention and went away, one to his field, another to his business. 6 The rest seized his servants, mistreated them, and killed them. 7 The king was enraged. He sent his army, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. 8 Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding banquet is ready, but those invited were not worthy.' 9 Go therefore to the main roads, and invite everyone you find to the wedding feast. 10 So those servants went out into the roads and gathered all they found, both good and bad. The wedding hall was filled with guests. 11 But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12 He said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' The man was speechless. 13 Then the king told the attendants, 'Tie him hand and foot, and throw him out into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' 14 For many are invited, but few are chosen.
  • Matt 25:1-9 : 1 Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 But the wise ones took oil in their flasks along with their lamps. 5 When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 At midnight, there was a cry: ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise ones replied, ‘No, there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 While they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom came. Those who were ready went with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut. 11 Later, the other virgins also came and said, ‘Lord, lord, open the door for us.’ 12 But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I do not know you.’ 13 Therefore, watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. 14 For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his own servants and entrusted his belongings to them.
  • Luke 14:16-24 : 16 Jesus replied, 'A certain man prepared a great banquet and invited many guests.' 17 At the time of the banquet, he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ 18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’ 19 Another said, ‘I have bought five pairs of oxen, and I am on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’ 20 Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I cannot come.’ 21 The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’ 22 ‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.’ 23 Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.’ 24 I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will taste my banquet.
  • John 3:29-30 : 29 The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. But the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and listens to him, rejoices greatly at the sound of the bridegroom's voice. Therefore, this joy of mine is now complete. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
  • 2 Cor 11:2 : 2 For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.
  • Eph 5:24-32 : 24 As the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing of water through the word, 27 and to present her to Himself as a glorious church, without stain or wrinkle or any such blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own body, but he nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of His body. 31 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. 32 This mystery is great—but I am speaking about Christ and the church.
  • Rev 19:7-9 : 7 Let us rejoice and be glad, and give Him glory, because the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His bride has prepared herself. 8 It was granted to her to be clothed in fine linen, bright and clean. And he added, 'These are the true words of God.'
  • Ps 45:10-16 : 10 Daughters of kings are among your noble women; at your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir. 11 Listen, daughter, consider and incline your ear; forget your people and your father's house. 12 The king will desire your beauty; bow down to him, for he is your lord. 13 The daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; the wealthy among the people will seek your favor. 14 The royal daughter is glorious within; her clothing is interwoven with gold. 15 In embroidered garments she is brought to the king; her virgin companions follow behind her and are led to you. 16 They are led with joy and gladness; they enter the palace of the king.
