He has done no wrong to you; on the contrary, his actions have greatly benefited you. 5 He risked his life to kill the Philistine, and the LORD brought about a great victory for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced. But Michal, David’s wife, warned him, saying, 'If you don’t escape tonight, you will be killed in the morning.' 12 So Michal let David down through the window, and he fled and escaped. 13 Michal then took a household idol, placed it in the bed, put a quilt made of goat's hair at its head, and covered it with a garment. 14 When Saul sent messengers to capture David, Michal said, 'He is sick.' 15 Then Saul sent the messengers back to see David, saying, 'Bring him to me in his bed so I can kill him.'

Of course not! Far be it from me! Let not the king accuse me or any of my father's family, for your servant knows nothing about this whole affair—whether great or small.' 16 The king said, 'You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and your whole family.' 17 Then the king ordered the guards standing by him, 'Turn and kill the priests of the Lord, because they are allies of David. They knew he was fleeing but didn’t inform me.' But the king's servants were unwilling to raise their hands to strike the priests of the Lord. 18 The king then commanded Doeg, 'Turn and strike down the priests!' So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck them down.
