  • 1The Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the eastern gate of the house of the Lord, which faces eastward, and I saw twenty-five men at the entrance of the gate. Among them were Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.

  • 30Thus I purified them from everything foreign and assigned duties to the priests and Levites, each to his task.

  • 24Then I set apart twelve of the leading priests—Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and with them ten of their brothers.

  • 3They said to me, 'Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.'

  • 4Standing on the platform of the Levites were Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and they cried out with a loud voice to the LORD their God.

  • 12In Judah also, the hand of God was at work to give them one heart to obey the command of the king and the officials, in accordance with the word of the LORD.

  • 8When Hezekiah and the officials came and saw the heaps, they praised the Lord and blessed His people Israel.

  • 2The people praised all those who willingly volunteered to live in Jerusalem.

  • 9So I went to the governors of the region beyond the Euphrates and gave them the king's letters. The king also sent army officers and cavalry with me.
