    4Send a thousand men from each tribe of Israel for the army.

    5So they selected from the thousands of Israel a thousand men from each tribe, twelve thousand armed for battle.

    6Moses sent them into battle, a thousand from each tribe, along with Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, who took the holy vessels and the trumpets for sounding the alarm in his hand.

    7They waged war against Midian, as the LORD had commanded Moses, and they killed every male.
