8For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed beyond measure, above strength, so much that we despaired even of life.
9But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God, who raises the dead.
13Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
19For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?
20For you are our glory and joy.
27Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

25And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith;
18For the same reason, you also should rejoice and rejoice with me.
6And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit:
7So that you became examples to all who believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
9For we are glad when we are weak, and you are strong; and this also we wish, even your perfection.
8Who shall also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Furthermore, then, we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as you have received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, so you would abound more and more.
