And they said to him, The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: 20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21 But we had hoped that it was he who was going to redeem Israel: and besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened. 22 Yes, and certain women from our company astonished us, who were early at the tomb; 23 And when they did not find his body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said he was alive. 24 And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found it just as the women had said: but him they did not see. 25 Then he said to them, O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26 Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. 28 And they drew near to the village where they were going, and he acted as though he would go further. 29 But they urged him, saying, Stay with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to stay with them. 30 And it came to pass, as he sat at the table with them, he took bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished from their sight. 32 And they said to one another, Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked with us on the road, and while he opened the Scriptures to us? 33 And they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and those who were with them, 34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon. 35 And they told what things happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of bread. 36 And as they spoke these things, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, Peace be to you. 37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said to them, Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have. 40 And when he had spoken this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, he said to them, Do you have any food here? 42 And they gave him a piece of broiled fish and some honeycomb. 43 And he took it and ate in their presence. 44 And he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning me. 45 Then he opened their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures, 46 And said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And you are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but stay in the city of Jerusalem until you are endowed with power from on high. 50 And he led them out as far as Bethany, and he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them and carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: 53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

She said to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him. 14 And when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek? She, supposing him to be the gardener, said to him, Sir, if you have taken him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away. 16 Jesus said to her, Mary. She turned and said to him, Rabboni; which means, Teacher. 17 Jesus said to her, Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God. 18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had said these things to her. 19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and said to them, Peace be to you. 20 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be to you! As my Father has sent me, I also send you.
