    5As also the high priest bears me witness, and all the council of the elders, from whom I also received letters to the brothers, and went to Damascus to bring those who were there bound to Jerusalem, to be punished.

    6And it happened, that as I made my journey and was near Damascus around noon, suddenly a great light from heaven shone around me.

    7And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?

    8And I answered, Who are you, Lord? And he said to me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you persecute.

    9And those who were with me indeed saw the light and were afraid, but they did not hear the voice of him who spoke to me.

    10And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said to me, Arise, and go into Damascus, and there it shall be told to you everything that is appointed for you to do.

    11And since I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of those who were with me, I came into Damascus.

    12Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,

    13At midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me.

    14And when we had all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking to me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? it is hard for you to kick against the pricks.

    15And I said, Who are you, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom you persecute.

    16But rise, and stand upon your feet: for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of these things which you have seen, and of those things in which I will appear to you;

    17Delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you,

  • 19Whereupon, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision:

  • 21And they said to him, We have neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor have any of the brethren who came reported or spoken any evil of you.

  • 12And when we heard these things, both we and those of that place pleaded with him not to go to Jerusalem.

  • 9But take heed to yourselves, for they shall deliver you to councils; and in the synagogues you shall be beaten; and you shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
