Why then has this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit, they refuse to return.

  • 19Therefore thus says the LORD, If you return, then I will bring you again, and you shall stand before me: and if you take forth the precious from the vile, you shall be as my mouth: let them return to you; but return not you to them.

  • 5They said, 'Turn now every one from his evil way and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD has given to you and to your fathers forever and ever:

  • 28But you shall say to them, This is a nation that does not obey the voice of the LORD their God, nor receive correction: truth has perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

  • 5Why have I seen them dismayed and turned back? Their mighty ones are beaten down, and have fled quickly, and do not look back: for fear is all around, says the LORD.

  • 3And they bend their tongues like a bow for lies; but they are not valiant for the truth on the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know me, says the LORD.

  • 19Your own wickedness shall correct you, and your backslidings shall reprove you: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that you have forsaken the LORD your God, and that my fear is not in you, says the Lord GOD of hosts.
