    11 Whenever the chest was brought to the king's steward by the Levites, and they saw there was a large amount of money, the king's scribe and the high priest's officer came, emptied the chest, and returned it to its place. They did this day after day and collected a great amount of money.

    12 The king and Jehoiada gave the money to those who carried out the work of the Lord's temple. They hired stonemasons and carpenters to restore the temple and craftsmen to work with iron and bronze to repair the house of the Lord.

    13 The workers diligently carried out their tasks, and the restoration of the temple made steady progress under their hands. They rebuilt the house of God according to its original design and strengthened it.

    14 When the work was completed, they brought the remaining silver before the king and Jehoiada, and they used it to make utensils for the house of the Lord, including tools for service, bowls, and other articles of gold and silver. They regularly offered burnt offerings in the house of the Lord throughout the days of Jehoiada.

    24 Though the Aramean army had come with only a small force of men, the Lord delivered into their hands a very large army because Judah had forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors. So they executed judgment against Joash.

    18 At that time, Hazael king of Aram went up and fought against Gath and captured it. Then he turned to attack Jerusalem.

    19 But Joash king of Judah took all the sacred items that had been dedicated by his forefathers—Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and Ahaziah, kings of Judah, along with his own sacred gifts and all the gold found in the treasuries of the temple of the LORD and the royal palace—and sent them to Hazael king of Aram. She placed him and his nurse in a bedroom. Because Jehoshabeath, the wife of Jehoiada the priest, was Ahaziah’s sister, she hid Joash from Athaliah so she could not kill him.
