7For I have great joy and encouragement from your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, my brother.
8For this reason, although I have great boldness in Christ to command you to do what is right,
3I wrote this very thing to you so that when I came, I would not have sorrow from those who ought to bring me joy. I have confidence in all of you, that my joy is your joy.
4For out of great distress and anguish of heart, I wrote to you with many tears, not to grieve you but to let you know the love I have for you more abundantly.

15With this confidence, I planned to visit you first so that you might benefit twice.
16I planned to pass through your area on my way to Macedonia, and then come back to you from Macedonia, so you could assist me on my journey to Judea.
19Again, do you think that we are defending ourselves to you? We are speaking before God in Christ, and all these things, beloved, are for your edification.
12We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.
8Therefore, I urge you to reaffirm your love for him.
6But now Timothy has come to us from you and has brought us good news about your faith and love, and that you always have good remembrance of us, longing to see us, just as we also long to see you.
7For this reason, brothers, in all our distress and affliction, we were comforted about you through your faith.
8For now we live, if you stand firm in the Lord.
12that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.
25Since I am convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,
26so that because of my coming to you again, your boasting in Christ Jesus may abound.
8I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others.
8In the same way, being affectionately desirous of you, we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our very lives, because you had become dear to us.
7And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you share in our sufferings, you also share in our comfort.
8For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of the trouble we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself.
17But we, brothers and sisters, being separated from you for a short time—in person, not in heart—made every effort, with great longing, to see you face to face.
20Yes, you are our glory and joy.
7and not only by his arrival, but also by the comfort you had given him. He told us about your deep longing, your mourning, and your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced even more.
8For even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it at first, I see that this letter grieved you, though only for a while.
9Now I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because your grief led to repentance. For you were grieved as God intended, so that you would not suffer any loss from us.
31I face death every day—yes, as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord.
12So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
11We have spoken openly to you, Corinthians; our heart is wide open.
18In the same way, you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
12I have much to write to you, but I do not want to do so with paper and ink. Instead, I hope to come to you and speak face to face, so that our joy may be complete.
12And may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another and for all people, just as we also do for you.
13So that He may strengthen your hearts to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His holy ones.
