Then withdraw from him so he will be struck down and killed.' 16 As Joab kept watch over the city, he positioned Uriah at a place where he knew the strongest defenders were. 17 When the men of the city came out and fought against Joab, some of David’s men fell in battle, and Uriah the Hittite also died. 18 Joab sent David a full report of the battle. 19 He instructed the messenger, 'When you finish delivering the report of the battle to the king, 20 if the king becomes angry and asks, "Why did you go so near the city to fight? Didn’t you know they would shoot arrows from the wall? 21 Who killed Abimelech son of Jerubbesheth? Didn’t a woman drop a millstone on him from the wall so that he died in Thebez?     17When he approached her, the woman asked, "Are you Joab?" "I am," he replied. She said, "Listen to what your servant has to say." "I’m listening," he said.

    18She continued, "In the past, people said, 'Seek advice in Abel,' and that is how matters were settled.
