9Joshua also set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, under the place where the priests carrying the ark of the covenant stood, and they are there to this day.
20And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan.
21He said to the Israelites, “In the future, when your children ask their fathers, ‘What do these stones mean?’
22You are to let your children know: 'Israel crossed the Jordan here on dry ground.'
3and command them, saying, ‘Take twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from the spot where the priests’ feet stand firm, carry them with you, and set them down at the place where you will spend the night.’”
26Joshua recorded these words in the Book of the Law of God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak tree near the sanctuary of the LORD.
27And Joshua said to all the people, "See, this stone will serve as a witness against us. It has heard all the words the LORD has spoken to us. It will be a witness against you if you deny your God.

8Therefore, keep every commandment I am giving you today, so that you may be strong and go in and take possession of the land that you are crossing over to inherit.
10Obey the voice of the LORD your God and follow His commandments and statutes that I am giving you today.
11That day Moses gave this command to the people:
9Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
10When the LORD your God brings you into the land He swore to your ancestors—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give to you, with cities great and good that you did not build,
42Then they shall take other stones to replace those removed and reapply the plaster over the house.
18Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds. Tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
1When all these things come upon you—the blessing and the curse that I have set before you—and you call them to mind among all the nations where the LORD your God has driven you,

47They are not just empty words for you—they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
45So Jacob took a stone and set it up as a pillar.
