12Then the LORD spoke to you from the midst of the fire. You heard the sound of words, but saw no form—there was only a voice.
18For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched, that is burning with fire, to darkness, gloom, and a storm,
19to a trumpet blast or a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them,
20because they could not bear what was commanded: "If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death."
21The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, "I am trembling with fear."
11They must be prepared for the third day, because on the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai.
12Set boundaries for the people all around, saying, 'Be careful not to go up the mountain or touch its edge. Whoever touches the mountain must surely be put to death.
13No hand is to touch it; anyone who touches it must be stoned or shot with arrows. Whether animal or human, they must not be allowed to live.' Only when the ram’s horn sounds a long blast may they go up the mountain.
14Moses went down from the mountain to the people, consecrated them, and they washed their garments.
16This is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, 'Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God or see this great fire anymore, or we will die.'
22These are the words the LORD spoke to your entire assembly at the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the profound darkness, with a loud voice. He added no more, and He wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.
23When you heard the voice from the darkness, while the mountain was ablaze with fire, all the heads of your tribes and your elders came to me.
23Moses said to the LORD, 'The people cannot come up Mount Sinai because You yourself warned us, saying: Set boundaries around the mountain and consecrate it.'
24The LORD replied, 'Go down and bring Aaron up with you. But the priests and the people must not force their way up to the LORD, or He will break out against them.'
2Only Moses is to approach the LORD; the others must not come near, and the people must not go up with him.
8And all the people answered together, saying, 'We will do everything the LORD has spoken.' Moses brought their words back to the LORD.
9The LORD said to Moses, 'Behold, I am coming to you in a dense cloud so that the people may hear when I speak with you and may always believe in you.' Then Moses reported the people's words to the LORD.
16The glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day, the LORD called to Moses from within the cloud.
17The appearance of the LORD's glory was like a consuming fire on the mountaintop in the sight of the Israelites.
2Be ready in the morning, and come up to Mount Sinai in the morning and stand before Me there on the top of the mountain.

31Moses was amazed at what he saw. As he approached to look more closely, he heard the voice of the Lord say,

5At that time, I stood between the LORD and you to declare His word to you, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain. He said:
8And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people would rise and stand at the entrance to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent.
30When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him.
9The LORD also said to Moses, "I have seen these people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people."
3Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, saying, "This is what you shall say to the house of Jacob and declare to the children of Israel:
14They will tell the inhabitants of this land about it. They have already heard that you, LORD, are among these people, that you, LORD, have been seen face to face, that your cloud stays over them, and that you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
19As Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned, and he threw the tablets out of his hands, shattering them at the foot of the mountain.
18Even when they made a molten calf for themselves and said, 'This is your god who brought you out of Egypt,' and they committed terrible blasphemies,
6Moses and Aaron left the assembly and went to the entrance of the tent of meeting. They fell facedown, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them.
15So be very careful for your own lives, because you did not see any form on the day the LORD spoke to you at Horeb from the midst of the fire.
5God said, 'Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.'
