12Why should the Egyptians say, 'He brought them out with evil intent, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth'? Turn from your burning anger and relent concerning this disaster against your people.
11The LORD said to Moses, "How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, despite all the signs I have performed among them?
9He said, "If I have found favor in your eyes, O Lord, please let the Lord go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our iniquity and our sin, and make us Your inheritance."
16But they, our ancestors, acted arrogantly. They stiffened their necks and did not obey Your commandments.
17They refused to listen and did not remember the wonders You performed among them. They stiffened their necks and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But You are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abundant in faithful love, and You did not abandon them.
18Even when they made a molten calf for themselves and said, 'This is your god who brought you out of Egypt,' and they committed terrible blasphemies,
13But Moses said to the LORD, "The Egyptians will hear about it! By your power you brought these people up from among them.
14They will tell the inhabitants of this land about it. They have already heard that you, LORD, are among these people, that you, LORD, have been seen face to face, that your cloud stays over them, and that you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
4Then Moses cried out to the LORD, saying, "What should I do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me!"
16I saw that you had sinned against the LORD your God. You had made a molten calf for yourselves. You had quickly turned aside from the way the LORD had commanded you.
16The LORD said to Moses, 'Behold, you are going to rest with your ancestors, and this people will rise up and prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them.'
31So Moses returned to the LORD and said, "Oh, this people have committed a great sin; they have made themselves gods of gold.
14Then the Lord said to Moses, "Pharaoh’s heart is stubborn; he refuses to let the people go.
7The LORD said, 'I have surely seen the affliction of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cry on account of their oppressors, and I am aware of their sufferings.'
1The LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials, so that I may perform these signs of mine among them."
6Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the LORD your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people.
22Aaron replied, "Do not let my lord's anger burn hot. You know these people yourself, that they are bent on evil.
23They said to me, 'Make gods for us who will go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him.'
9The LORD said to Moses, 'Behold, I am coming to you in a dense cloud so that the people may hear when I speak with you and may always believe in you.' Then Moses reported the people's words to the LORD.
12Moses said to the LORD, 'See, You have been telling me, ‘Lead this people,’ but You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have found favor in My eyes.’
31Moses was amazed at what he saw. As he approached to look more closely, he heard the voice of the Lord say,
32'I am the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.' Moses trembled with fear and did not dare to look closely.
9Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh slavery.
10Then the LORD said to Moses,
16Therefore, circumcise the foreskin of your hearts and do not be stiff-necked any longer.
21The LORD said to Moses, 'Go down and warn the people not to force their way through to see the LORD, or many of them will perish.'
34'I have surely seen the oppression of my people in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning. I have come down to rescue them. Now come, I will send you to Egypt.'
35Then the LORD struck the people with a plague, because of what they had done with the calf Aaron had made.
19As Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned, and he threw the tablets out of his hands, shattering them at the foot of the mountain.

25Moses saw that the people were out of control—for Aaron had let them get out of control, to the mockery of their enemies.
27Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Do not focus on the stubbornness of this people, their wickedness, or their sin.
26Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:
4When the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him out of the bush and said, 'Moses, Moses!' And Moses replied, 'Here I am.'
20He said: I will hide My face from them; I will see what their end will be, for they are a perverse generation, children in whom there is no faithfulness.
27For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you have been rebellious against the LORD while I am still alive and with you, how much more will you rebel after my death!
1When the people saw that Moses delayed in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said to him, "Get up, make for us gods who will go before us, because this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him."
3Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, saying, "This is what you shall say to the house of Jacob and declare to the children of Israel:
