    19As Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned, and he threw the tablets out of his hands, shattering them at the foot of the mountain.

    20He took the calf they had made, burned it with fire, ground it to powder, scattered it on the water, and made the Israelites drink it.

    21Then Moses said to Aaron, "What did these people do to you that you led them into such a great sin?"

    22Aaron replied, "Do not let my lord's anger burn hot. You know these people yourself, that they are bent on evil.

    23They said to me, 'Make gods for us who will go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him.'

    24So I told them, 'Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.' They gave it to me, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!"

    25Moses saw that the people were out of control—for Aaron had let them get out of control, to the mockery of their enemies.

    23Moses said to the LORD, 'The people cannot come up Mount Sinai because You yourself warned us, saying: Set boundaries around the mountain and consecrate it.'

    24The LORD replied, 'Go down and bring Aaron up with you. But the priests and the people must not force their way up to the LORD, or He will break out against them.'

  • 20And the LORD did as He said. Dense swarms of flies entered Pharaoh’s palace, the houses of his officials, and throughout Egypt, and the land was ruined because of the flies.

  • 15If you turn away from following Him, He will abandon them again in the wilderness, and you will bring destruction on all these people."

  • 7We have acted very corruptly against you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees, and laws you gave your servant Moses.

  • 5They have acted corruptly toward Him; they are not His children because of their defect—a crooked and perverse generation.

  • 11The LORD said to Moses, "How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, despite all the signs I have performed among them?

  • 25They turned to other gods and worshiped and bowed down to them, gods they did not know and gods the LORD had not given to them.'

  • 17Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.
