She bore these to Jacob—sixteen in all. 19 The sons of Rachel, Jacob’s wife, were Joseph and Benjamin. 20 In the land of Egypt, Joseph’s two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim, were born to him by Asenath, daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. 21 The sons of Benjamin were Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard. 22 These were the sons of Rachel who were born to Jacob—fourteen in all. 23 The sons of Dan: Hushim. 24 The sons of Naphtali were Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem. 25 These were the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel. She bore these to Jacob—seven in all. 26 All the members of Jacob’s household who went to Egypt, those who were his direct descendants (not counting the wives of his sons), numbered sixty-six persons in total. 27 And the two sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, brought the total number of Jacob's family who came to Egypt to seventy.

They recorded their lineage by their clans and ancestral houses, counting the names of those twenty years old or older, individually, 19 just as the LORD had commanded Moses. So they counted them in the wilderness of Sinai. 20 The descendants of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, were recorded by their generations, families, and ancestral houses, by name, individually, all the males twenty years old or older, all who could serve in the army. 21 The number from the tribe of Reuben was 46,500. 22 The descendants of Simeon were recorded by their generations, by their families, and by their ancestral houses, all the males twenty years old or older, individually counted, all able to serve in the army. 23 The number from the tribe of Simeon was 59,300. 24 The descendants of Gad were recorded by their generations, by their families, and by their ancestral houses, all the males twenty years old or older, individually counted, all able to serve in the army. 25 The number from the tribe of Gad was 45,650. 26 The descendants of Judah were recorded by their generations, by their families, and by their ancestral houses, all the males twenty years old or older, individually counted, all able to serve in the army. 27 The number from the tribe of Judah was 74,600. 28 The descendants of Issachar were recorded by their generations, by their families, and by their ancestral houses, all the males twenty years old or older, individually counted, all able to serve in the army. 29 The number from the tribe of Issachar was 54,400. 30 The descendants of Zebulun were recorded by their generations, by their families, and by their ancestral houses, all the males twenty years old or older, individually counted, all able to serve in the army. 31 The number from the tribe of Zebulun was 57,400. 32 The descendants of Joseph, specifically the tribe of Ephraim, were recorded by their generations, by their families, and by their ancestral houses, all the males twenty years old or older, individually counted, all able to serve in the army. 33 The number from the tribe of Ephraim was 40,500. 34 The descendants of Manasseh were recorded by their generations, by their families, and by their ancestral houses, counting the names of all the males twenty years old or older, all able to serve in the army. 35 The number from the tribe of Manasseh was 32,200. 36 The descendants of Benjamin were recorded by their generations, by their families, and by their ancestral houses, counting the names of all the males twenty years old or older, all able to serve in the army. 37 The number from the tribe of Benjamin was 35,400. 38 The descendants of Dan were recorded by their generations, by their families, and by their ancestral houses, counting the names of all the males twenty years old or older, all able to serve in the army. 39 The number from the tribe of Dan was 62,700. 40 The descendants of Asher were recorded by their generations, by their families, and by their ancestral houses, counting the names of all the males twenty years old or older, all able to serve in the army. 41 The number from the tribe of Asher was 41,500. 42 The descendants of Naphtali were recorded by their generations, by their families, and by their ancestral houses, counting the names of all the males twenty years old or older, all able to serve in the army. 43 The number from the tribe of Naphtali was 53,400. 44 These were the ones who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron counted, along with the leaders of Israel, twelve men, each the head of his ancestral house. 45 So all the Israelites who were twenty years old or older and able to serve in the army were counted according to their ancestral houses. 46 The total number of those counted was 603,550. 47 However, the Levites, by their ancestral tribe, were not included in the census among them. 48 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 49 Do not include the tribe of Levi or take a census of them among the Israelites. 50 Instead, appoint the Levites to be in charge of the tabernacle of the covenant, all its furnishings, and everything that belongs to it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings, serve it, and camp around it. 51 Whenever the tabernacle is to move, the Levites must take it down, and whenever it is to be set up, the Levites must set it up. Any outsider who comes near it must be put to death. 52 The Israelites are to camp by their divisions, each man by his own banner, near his own family’s camp. 53 But the Levites are to camp around the tabernacle of the covenant to protect the Israelites from wrath. The Levites are to carry out the responsibilities of the tabernacle of the covenant. 54 Thus the Israelites did everything the LORD had commanded Moses, just as the LORD instructed them.
  • Num 10:1-9 : 1 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 2 Make two silver trumpets for yourself; make them of hammered work. They shall be used for calling the assembly and for directing the movement of the camps. 3 When both are blown, the whole assembly shall gather to you at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. 4 If only one is blown, then the leaders, the heads of Israel's clans, shall gather to you. 5 When you sound a trumpet blast, the camps on the east side shall set out. 6 When you sound a second trumpet blast, the camps on the south side shall set out; a blast shall be sounded for their departure. 7 When calling the assembly together, you shall blow the trumpets, but do not sound an alarm. 8 The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets. This shall be a lasting statute for you throughout your generations. 9 When you go into battle in your land against an enemy who oppresses you, you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, so that you might be remembered before the LORD your God and be saved from your enemies. 10 Also, on the day of your rejoicing, at your appointed festivals, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and your peace offerings; they will serve as a reminder for you before your God. I am the LORD your God. 11 In the second year, on the twentieth day of the second month, the cloud was lifted from over the Tabernacle of the Testimony. 12 Then the Israelites set out on their journeys from the Wilderness of Sinai, and the cloud settled in the Wilderness of Paran. 13 They set out for the first time according to the command of the LORD by Moses. 14 The banner of the camp of the sons of Judah set out first, according to their divisions, with Nahshon son of Amminadab leading them. 15 Over the division of the tribe of the sons of Issachar was Nethanel son of Zuar. 16 Over the division of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun was Eliab son of Helon. 17 Then the Tabernacle was taken down, and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, who carried the Tabernacle, set out. 18 The banner of the camp of Reuben set out, according to their divisions, with Elizur son of Shedeur in command. 19 Over the division of the tribe of the sons of Simeon was Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai. 20 Over the division of the tribe of the sons of Gad was Eliasaph son of Deuel. 21 Then the Kohathites, who carried the holy things, set out; the Tabernacle was to be set up before their arrival. 22 The banner of the camp of Ephraim set out, according to their divisions, with Elishama son of Ammihud in command. 23 Over the division of the tribe of the sons of Manasseh was Gamaliel son of Pedahzur. 24 Over the division of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin was Abidan son of Gideoni. 25 The banner of the camp of Dan, serving as the rear guard for all the camps, set out, according to their divisions, with Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai in command. 26 Over the division of the tribe of the sons of Asher was Pagiel son of Ocran. 27 Over the division of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali was Ahira son of Enan. 28 This was the order of the journeys of the Israelites according to their divisions as they set out. 29 Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law: "We are setting out for the place about which the LORD said, 'I will give it to you.' Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things for Israel." 30 But he replied to him, "I will not go; I am going back to my own land and to my relatives." 31 Moses said, "Please do not leave us, because you know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you will be our eyes. 32 If you come with us, we will share with you whatever good things the LORD gives to us." 33 So they set out from the mountain of the LORD and traveled for three days. During those three days, the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD went ahead of them to search out a resting place for them. 34 By day, the cloud of the LORD was over them as they set out from the camp. 35 Whenever the Ark set out, Moses would say, "Arise, LORD! Let your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate you flee before you." 36 And whenever it came to rest, he would say, "Return, LORD, to the countless thousands of Israel."

The family of Carmi from Carmi; the family of the Carmites. 7 These were the families of the Reubenites, and the total number of those counted was 43,730. 8 The descendants of Pallu: Eliab. 9 The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan, and Abiram. These were the same Dathan and Abiram, community leaders who opposed Moses and Aaron as part of Korah’s assembly, inciting rebellion against the Lord. 10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, along with Korah, when that assembly died, as the fire consumed 250 men, serving as a warning sign. 11 However, the sons of Korah did not die. 12 The descendants of Simeon by their families: The family of Nemuel from Nemuel; the family of the Nemuelites. The family of Jamin from Jamin; the family of the Jaminites. 13 The family of Zerah from Zerah; the family of the Zerahites. The family of Shaul from Shaul; the family of the Shaulites. 14 These were the families of the Simeonites, totaling 22,200. 15 The descendants of Gad by their families: The family of Zephon from Zephon; the family of the Zephonites. The family of Haggi from Haggi; the family of the Haggites. 16 The family of Shuni from Shuni; the family of the Shunites. The family of Ozni from Ozni; the family of the Oznites.
