  • John 5:17-43 : 17 But Jesus answered them, 'My Father is working until now, and I too am working.' 18 Because of this, the Jews were all the more determined to kill Him, not only because He was breaking the Sabbath, but also because He was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. 19 So Jesus answered them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He only does what He sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does in the same way.' 20 'For the Father loves the Son and shows Him everything that He does. And He will show Him greater works than these, so that you may be amazed.' 21 'Just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whomever He wills.' 22 'For the Father judges no one, but He has entrusted all judgment to the Son.' 23 'So that everyone may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.' 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. 25 Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 For just as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son also to have life in Himself. 27 And He has given Him authority to execute judgment because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not be amazed at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice. 29 And they will come out: those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. 30 I can do nothing on My own. As I hear, I judge, and My judgment is just because I do not seek My own will but the will of Him who sent Me. 31 If I testify about Myself, My testimony is not valid. 32 There is another who testifies about Me, and I know that His testimony about Me is true. 33 You sent messengers to John, and he testified to the truth. 34 But I do not accept testimony from a man; rather, I say these things so that you may be saved. 35 John was a lamp that burned and shone, and for a time, you were willing to rejoice in his light. 36 But I have testimony greater than John's: the works the Father has given Me to complete, the very works I am doing, testify about Me that the Father has sent Me. 37 The Father who sent me has Himself testified about me.
