16"Because of these things I weep; my eyes, my eyes flow with tears. No one is near to comfort me, no one to restore my spirit. My children are desolate because the enemy has prevailed."
17Zion stretches out her hands, but there is no one to comfort her. The LORD has decreed for Jacob that his neighbors become his foes; Jerusalem has become an unclean thing among them.
18The LORD is righteous, for I have rebelled against his word. Listen, all you peoples; look at my suffering. My young women and my young men have gone into captivity.

5The Lord appeared like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed all her palaces, destroyed her strongholds, and filled the daughter of Judah with mourning and lamentation.
10Writhe in pain and groan, Daughter Zion, like a woman in labor, for now you must leave the city and camp in the open field. You will go to Babylon; there you will be rescued. There the LORD will redeem you from the hand of your enemies.
11But now many nations are gathered against you, saying, 'Let her be defiled, and let our eyes gloat over Zion.'
9The mother of seven has grown weak and faint; she has breathed her last. Her sun has set while it was still day; she has been disgraced and humiliated. And the remnant of them I will deliver to the sword in the presence of their enemies,' declares the LORD.
9For her wound is incurable; it has even reached Judah. It has reached the gates of my people, even to Jerusalem itself.
26The city gates will lament and mourn; destitute, she will sit on the ground.
7Your land is desolate, your cities are burned with fire; in your presence, foreigners devour your fields. It is desolate, as if overthrown by strangers.
3Her officials are roaring lions in her midst; her judges are wolves of the evening, leaving nothing for the morning.

15Why do you cry out over your injury? Your pain is incurable. Because of your great guilt and many sins, I have done these things to you.
16But all who devour you will be devoured, and all your adversaries will go into captivity. Those who plunder you will be plundered, and all who loot you I will give as loot.
18There is no one to guide her among all the sons she has borne, and no one to take her by the hand among all the sons she has raised.
19These double calamities have come upon you—destruction and devastation, famine and sword. Who will console you?

12My people! Children oppress you, and women rule over you. Your guides mislead you and destroy the way of your paths.
15Their king will go into exile, he and his princes together,' says the LORD.

12This is what the Lord says: 'Although they have allies and are numerous, they will be destroyed and pass away. Although I have afflicted you, Judah, I will afflict you no more.'
9You drive the women of my people out of their pleasant homes. You take away my splendor from their children forever.
17The LORD has done what he planned; he has fulfilled his word that he decreed long ago. He has overthrown without pity; he has let the enemy gloat over you and exalt the horn of your adversaries.
22The wind will shepherd all your rulers, and your lovers will go into captivity. At that time you will be ashamed and humiliated because of all your wickedness.
12Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the temple will become a high place overgrown with thickets.
9Therefore, I handed her over to her lovers, the Assyrians whom she lusted after.
19Listen to the cry of my people from a land far away: 'Is the LORD not in Zion? Is her King no longer there?' Why have they provoked me to anger with their idols, with their worthless foreign gods?
8For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen, because their speech and actions are against the LORD, challenging His glorious presence.
10Then my enemy will see, and shame will cover her who said to me, 'Where is the LORD your God?' My eyes will look upon her; now she will be trampled down like mud in the streets.
