The LORD said to Moses, "Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay your hand on him.

9 Moses said to Joshua, "Choose some men for us and go out to fight against Amalek. Tomorrow, I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand."
17 I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them. They will help you bear the burden of the people, so that you do not have to bear it alone.
16 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
17 These are the names of the men who shall divide the land for you as an inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun.
11 The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young assistant Joshua, son of Nun, did not leave the tent.
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
