32 We will cross over armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan, but the possession of our inheritance will be on this side of the Jordan."
33 Then Moses gave to the sons of Gad, the sons of Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan—the land with its cities and the territories surrounding them.
1 The sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had a very large amount of livestock. When they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, they noticed that the place was suitable for livestock.

3 "Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon—
4 this land that the Lord defeated before the congregation of Israel—is a land suitable for livestock, and your servants have livestock."
5 They said, "If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Do not make us cross the Jordan."
6 But Moses replied to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, "Should your brothers go to war while you stay here?
19 'But your wives, children, and livestock—I know you have much livestock—may stay in the towns I have given you.'
14 Your wives, your children, and your livestock may remain in the land that Moses gave you on the east side of the Jordan. But you, all your strong warriors, fully armed, must cross ahead of your brothers and help them.
11 You are entering into the covenant of the LORD your God and His oath, which the LORD your God is making with you today.
9 So the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh left the other Israelites at Shiloh in the land of Canaan to return to their own land of Gilead, the land of their possession, which they had acquired at the command of the LORD through Moses.

36 From Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Valley, and from the city in the valley, even to Gilead, not one city was too strong for us. The LORD our God gave them all into our hands.
3 Why is the LORD bringing us to this land only to fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn't it be better for us to return to Egypt?
25 The LORD has made the Jordan a boundary between us and you—you Reubenites and Gadites! You have no share in the LORD.’ So your descendants might cause ours to stop worshiping the LORD.
16 Surely all the wealth that God took away from our father belongs to us and our children. So do whatever God has told you to do.'
9 Moses answered, "We will go with our young and old, with our sons and daughters, and with our flocks and herds, because we are to celebrate a festival to the LORD."
15 When they came to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh in the land of Gilead, they spoke to them, saying:
23 Won't their livestock, their property, and all their animals be ours? Only let us agree to them, and they will dwell with us."
26 Even our livestock must go with us; not a hoof is to be left behind. We have to use them to worship the LORD our God. And until we arrive there, we will not know what we are to use to worship the LORD."
28 This was the inheritance of the tribe of Gad, according to their clans—the cities and their villages.
2 They spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, 'The LORD commanded through Moses to give us cities to live in, with pasture lands for our livestock.'
21 Then the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh replied to the heads of the clans of Israel:
13 But Jacob replied, 'My lord knows that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds that are nursing are my responsibility. If they are driven hard even for one day, all the flocks will die.'
12 The Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed over, armed for battle, in front of the Israelites, as Moses had directed them.
21 and all your armed men cross over the Jordan before the Lord until He has driven out His enemies from His presence—
22 'When their fathers or brothers come to us to complain, we will say to them, "Do us a favor by allowing them to have these wives, for we did not obtain wives for them during the battle. And you did not give your daughters to them, so you are not guilty of breaking your oath."'
28 They took their flocks, herds, donkeys, and everything in the city and in the fields.
29 They carried off all their wealth, their children, and their wives, taking everything in the houses as plunder.
33 The Israelites were pleased with the report, and they praised God. They no longer talked about going to war against them to destroy the land where the Reubenites and the Gadites lived.
7 But we kept all the livestock and the spoils of the cities for ourselves.
24 People will live together in Judah and all its cities—farmers and those who move with the herds.

39 And the little ones you said would be taken as plunder—your children who do not yet know good from evil—they will enter the land. I will give it to them, and they will take possession of it.
