Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: therefore you shall receive greater condemnation.

46And he said, Woe to you also, lawyers! for you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.
47Woe to you! for you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
39And the Lord said to him, Now you Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness.
14And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they ridiculed him.
15And he said to them, You are the ones who justify yourselves before men; but God knows your hearts: for what is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
33Serpents, brood of vipers, how can you escape the condemnation of hell?
34Therefore, indeed, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:
24But woe to you that are rich! for you have received your consolation.
25Woe to you that are full! for you shall hunger. Woe to you that laugh now! for you shall mourn and weep.
26Woe to you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

53And as he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:
5And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward.

38See, your house is left to you desolate.
3And through covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; their judgment is long overdue, and their destruction does not slumber.
2To turn aside the needy from justice and to take away the rights from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

14But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you.
11Since you tread upon the poor, and you take from him burdens of wheat: you have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink wine of them.
16Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance, for they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to fast. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward.
