They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18 And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, 19 Saying, Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit. 20 But Peter said to him, Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money. 21 You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. 22 Repent therefore of this wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. 23 For I perceive that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity. 24 Then Simon answered and said, Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things you have spoken may come upon me. 25 And when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
  • Acts 9:32-43 : 32 And it came to pass, as Peter traveled through all quarters, he also came down to the saints dwelling in Lydda. 33 There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. 34 And Peter said to him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you: arise and make your bed. And he arose immediately. 35 And all who dwelt in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord. 36 Now there was in Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. 37 And it happened in those days that she became sick and died. After they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. 38 And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. 39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body, he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. 41 And he gave her his hand and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive. 42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. 43 And it happened that he stayed many days in Joppa with one Simon, a tanner.
  • Acts 10:9-9 : 9 On the next day, as they went on their journey and neared the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: 10 And he became very hungry, and wanted to eat: but while they prepared, he fell into a trance, 11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending to him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: 12 In which were all kinds of four-footed beasts of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. 13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill and eat. 14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean. 15 And the voice spoke to him again the second time, What God has cleansed, do not call common. 16 This was done three times: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. 17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen meant, behold, the men who were sent from Cornelius had inquired for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, 18 And called, and asked whether Simon, whose surname was Peter, was staying there. 19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men seek you. 20 Arise therefore, and go down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them. 21 Then Peter went down to the men who were sent to him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom you seek: what is the reason why you have come? 22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one who fears God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned by a holy angel to send for you to his house, and to hear words from you. 23 Then he invited them in, and lodged them. And on the next day Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him. 24 And the day after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his relatives and near friends. 25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. 26 But Peter lifted him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. 27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many who had come together. 28 And he said to them, You know that it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to keep company with or come to one of another nation; but God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean. 29 Therefore I came without objection as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what reason you have sent for me? 30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, 31 And said, Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God. 32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call here Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is staying in the house of one Simon a tanner by the seaside: when he comes, he will speak to you. 33 Immediately therefore I sent to you; and you have done well that you have come. Now therefore we are all present before God, to hear all things commanded you by God.

  • Acts 15:7-9 : 7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up and said to them, Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God made a choice among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. 8 And God, who knows the hearts, bore them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as He did to us; 9 and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. 10 Now therefore why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

  • 2 John 1:1-3 John 1:14 : 1 The elder to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all those who have known the truth. 2 For the sake of the truth, which dwells in us and will be with us forever. 3 Grace, mercy, and peace be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. 4 I rejoiced greatly that I found your children walking in truth, as we received a commandment from the Father. 5 And now I urge you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. 6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it. 7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, who do not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8 Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we have worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. 9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him. 11 For he who greets him shares in his evil deeds. 12 Having many things to write to you, I did not wish to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full. 13 The children of your chosen sister greet you. Amen. 1 The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, even as you walk in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 5 Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren and for strangers; 6 They have borne witness of your charity before the church: whom if you bring forward on their journey in a godly manner, you will do well: 7 Because for His name's sake they went forth, taking nothing from the Gentiles. 8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellow helpers of the truth. 9 I wrote to the church: but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. 10 Therefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words: and not content with that, neither does he himself receive the brethren, and forbids those who would, and casts them out of the church. 11 Beloved, do not follow what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God: but he who does evil has not seen God. 12 Demetrius has received a good report from all men, and of the truth itself: yes, and we also bear witness, and you know that our testimony is true. 13 I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write to you: 14 But I trust I shall shortly see you, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to you. Our friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.
