  • Rom 3:9-9 : 9 What then? Are we any better? Not at all. For we have already charged that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin. 10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one." 11 "There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God." 12 All have turned away, together they have become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one. 13 "Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." "The venom of vipers is under their lips." 14 Their mouths are full of curses and bitterness. 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood. 16 Ruin and misery mark their paths. 17 And the way of peace they have not known. 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes. 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be justified in His sight by works of the law; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

  • Rom 4:11-16 : 11 And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So that he might be the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness might also be credited to them, 12 and to be the father of the circumcised who are not only circumcised but also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised. 13 For the promise to Abraham or his descendants that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if those who are of the law inherit, faith is made void, and the promise is nullified. 15 For the law brings wrath, and where there is no law, there is no transgression. 16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, that it may be according to grace, so that it might be guaranteed to all the offspring—not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who share the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.
