    7Moreover, the word of the Lord came through the prophet Jehu, son of Hanani, against Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the eyes of the Lord, provoking Him to anger with the work of his hands, being like the house of Jeroboam, and because he destroyed it.

    13This happened because of all the sins of Baasha and the sins of his son Elah, which they committed and led Israel to commit, provoking the Lord, the God of Israel, to anger with their worthless idols.

    15In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned in Tirzah for seven days. The army was encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.

    1The word of the Lord came to Jehu, son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying:

    2Because I raised you up from the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, but you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and led My people Israel into sin, provoking Me to anger with their sins,

    3behold, I will sweep away Baasha and his family, and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat.

    4Anyone belonging to Baasha who dies in the city, the dogs will eat, and anyone who dies in the field, the birds of the heavens will eat.

    5Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

    26He did evil in the sight of the LORD and followed in the ways of his father, committing the same sin his father had caused Israel to commit.

    27Baasha son of Ahijah, from the tribe of Issachar, conspired against Nadab and struck him down at Gibbethon, a Philistine town, while Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to it.

    28Baasha killed Nadab in the third year of Asa king of Judah and reigned in his place.

    29As soon as Baasha became king, he killed the entire house of Jeroboam. He did not leave a single soul alive, utterly destroying them, in accordance with the word of the LORD spoken through His servant Ahijah the Shilonite.
