20Samuel said to the people, 'Do not be afraid. You have done all this evil, yet do not turn away from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart.'
24Samuel said to the people, 'Do you see the one the LORD has chosen? There is no one like him among all the people.' Then the people shouted, 'Long live the king!'
25Samuel explained to the people the rights and duties of kingship. He wrote them in a scroll and laid it before the LORD. Then he sent all the people away, each to their home.
14Then Samuel said to the people, "Come, let us go to Gilgal and renew the kingship there."
15So all the people went to Gilgal, and there they made Saul king in the presence of the LORD. They sacrificed peace offerings before the LORD, and Saul and all the men of Israel celebrated with great joy.
21Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul, the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, who ruled for forty years.
14When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you and take possession of it and settle in it, and you say, 'Let us appoint a king over us, like all the nations around us,'
12Then the people said to Samuel, "Who was it that said, 'Shall Saul reign over us?' Bring those men to us, and we will put them to death."
1The LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for I have chosen a king for myself among his sons."
2Samuel said, "How can I go? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me." The LORD replied, "Take a young cow with you and say, 'I have come to sacrifice to the LORD.'
10Where now is your king to save you in all your cities? And where are your rulers, about whom you said, 'Give me a king and princes'?
19'But today you have rejected your God, who delivers you from all your calamities and distresses. You have said to Him, "Set a king over us." Now present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and clans.'
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD. They anointed David king over Israel, as the LORD had said through Samuel.
16Then Samuel said to Saul, 'Stop! Let me tell you what the LORD said to me last night.' Saul replied, 'Speak.'
17Samuel said, 'Although you were small in your own eyes, were you not made the head of the tribes of Israel? The LORD anointed you king over Israel.'
27As they were going down to the outskirts of the town, Samuel said to Saul, "Tell the servant to go on ahead of us"—and the servant went on—"but you stay here for a moment, and I will give you a message from God."
10Then the word of the LORD came to Samuel, saying:

14But now your kingdom will not endure. The Lord has sought a man after His own heart and appointed him leader over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you."

8The Israelites said to Samuel, 'Do not stop crying out to the LORD our God for us, so that He may save us from the hand of the Philistines.'
14But Samuel said, 'What is this sound of sheep and cattle that I hear?'
1Then Samuel took the flask of oil, poured it on Saul’s head, kissed him, and said, 'Has not the LORD anointed you as ruler over His inheritance?'
28And Samuel said to him, 'The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel away from you today and has given it to one of your neighbors, someone better than you.'
