    18 So Samuel called to the LORD, and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day, and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.

    19 The people all said to Samuel, 'Pray to the LORD your God for your servants, so that we will not die, for we have added this evil to all our sins by asking for a king.'

    24 Samuel said to the people, 'Do you see the one the LORD has chosen? There is no one like him among all the people.' Then the people shouted, 'Long live the king!'

    25 Samuel explained to the people the rights and duties of kingship. He wrote them in a scroll and laid it before the LORD. Then he sent all the people away, each to their home.
