  • Ezra 1:1-6 : 1 In the first year of Cyrus, king of Persia, to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken through Jeremiah, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus, king of Persia. He made a proclamation throughout his kingdom and put it in writing, saying: 2 This is what Cyrus, king of Persia, says: 'The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and He has appointed me to build Him a temple in Jerusalem, in Judah.' 3 Whoever among you belongs to His people, may their God be with them, and let them go up to Jerusalem, in Judah, and build the temple of the LORD, the God of Israel. He is the God who is in Jerusalem. 4 And let every survivor, wherever they may reside, be supported by the people of that place with silver, gold, goods, and livestock, along with their voluntary offerings for the house of God in Jerusalem. 5 Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, the priests, and the Levites—everyone whose spirit God had stirred—rose to go up and rebuild the house of the LORD in Jerusalem. 6 Their neighbors supported them with silver articles, gold, goods, livestock, and choice gifts, in addition to all the freewill offerings.
  • Ps 106:40-47 : 40 Therefore, the LORD's anger burned against His people, and He abhorred His inheritance. 41 He handed them over to the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them. 42 Their enemies oppressed them and subdued them under their power. 43 Many times He delivered them, but they were rebellious in their plans and sank into their iniquity. 44 Yet He saw their distress when He heard their cry. 45 He remembered His covenant with them and relented according to the abundance of His lovingkindness. 46 He caused them to be treated with compassion by all who held them captive. 47 Save us, LORD our God, and gather us from among the nations, so that we may give thanks to Your holy name and glory in Your praise.
  • Jer 33:6-9 : 6 But I will bring it health and healing, I will heal them and reveal to them an abundance of peace and truth. 7 I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel, and I will rebuild them as they were at first. 8 I will cleanse them from all the iniquity they have committed against me and forgive all their iniquities of sin and rebellion against me. 9 Then this city will bring me joy, praise, and glory before all the nations of the earth who hear of all the good I do for it. They will tremble in awe because of all the goodness and peace I provide for it. 10 This is what the Lord says: You say of this place, 'It is desolate, without people or animals,' in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are deserted, without people, inhabitants, or animals. 11 The sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of the bridegroom and the bride, the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the Lord, saying, 'Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever,' will again be heard. For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were at first, says the Lord. 12 This is what the Lord Almighty says: In this desolate place, without people or animals, and in all its towns, there will again be pastures for shepherds to rest their flocks. 13 In the towns of the hill country, the western foothills, and the Negev, in the territory of Benjamin, around Jerusalem, and in the towns of Judah, flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who counts them, says the Lord.
