2 Ahaziah fell through the lattice in the upper chamber of his palace in Samaria, injuring himself. He sent messengers, instructing them, 'Go and inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will recover from this illness.'
3 But the angel of the LORD told Elijah the Tishbite, 'Go up and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them, "Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron?"'
4 Therefore, this is what the LORD says: 'You will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will surely die.' And Elijah departed.
15 The angel of the LORD said to Elijah, 'Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.' So Elijah got up and went down with him to the king.
16 Elijah said to the king, 'This is what the LORD says: "You have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron—is it because there is no God in Israel to consult? Because of this, you will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will surely die."'
16 They said to him, 'Look, we have fifty able men among your servants. Let them go and search for your master. Perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has picked him up and set him down on some mountain or in some valley.' But Elisha replied, 'Do not send them.'
17 But they persisted until he was too ashamed to refuse. So he said, 'Send them.' And they sent fifty men, who searched for three days but did not find him.
18 When they returned to Elisha, who was staying in Jericho, he said to them, 'Didn't I tell you not to go?'
9 So he replied to Ben-Hadad's messengers, 'Tell my lord the king: I will do what you originally demanded of me, but this I cannot do.' The messengers left and reported back to Ben-Hadad.
18 So a horseman went out to meet them and said, 'This is what the king says: Do you come in peace?' Jehu replied, 'What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me.' And the watchman reported, 'The messenger reached them but has not returned.'
19 The king sent out a second horseman, who came to them and said, 'This is what the king says: Do you come in peace?' Jehu answered, 'What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me.'
20 The watchman reported, 'He has reached them, but he has not returned. The driving is like that of Jehu son of Nimshi—he drives furiously!'
25 From there, he went on to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.
11 Now you tell me, 'Go and say to your master, Elijah is here!'
9 'For this is the command the LORD gave me by His word: You must not eat bread or drink water or return by the way you came.'
10 So he went another way and did not return by the way he had come to Bethel.
26 But to the king of Judah who sent you to inquire of the LORD, this is what you shall say to him: 'This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says concerning the words you heard:
32 Now Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. The king sent a messenger ahead, but before he arrived, Elisha said to the elders, "Do you see how this murderer is sending someone to cut off my head? Look, when the messenger arrives, shut the door and hold it shut against him. Is not the sound of his master's footsteps behind him?"
33 While he was still speaking with them, the messenger came down to him. The king said, "This disaster is from the LORD. Why should I wait any longer for the LORD?"
14 Then Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master, who asked him, "What did Elisha say to you?" Hazael replied, "He told me that you will certainly recover."
20 Elisha left the oxen, ran after Elijah, and said, 'Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye, and then I will follow you.' Elijah said to him, 'Go back, for what have I done to you?'
21 Elisha returned, took the pair of oxen, and slaughtered them. Using the equipment of the oxen, he cooked the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he got up, followed Elijah, and became his attendant.
18 As for the king of Judah who sent you to inquire of the LORD, you shall say to him: ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Regarding the words you have heard,
4 You shall say to them, ‘This is what the LORD says: Do people fall and not get up? If they turn away, do they not return?’
21 and he cried out to the man of God who had come from Judah, 'This is what the LORD says: Because you have defied the word of the LORD and have not kept the command the LORD your God gave you,
13 A third time, the king sent a captain with fifty men. This third captain approached, fell on his knees before Elijah, and pleaded with him, 'Man of God, please let my life and the lives of these fifty servants of yours be precious in your eyes.'
25 When Gehazi went inside and stood before his master, Elisha asked him, 'Where have you been, Gehazi?' He answered, 'Your servant didn’t go anywhere.'
26 But Elisha said to him, 'Was my spirit not with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to take money or accept clothes, olive groves, vineyards, sheep, cattle, male servants, and female servants?'
8 Elijah replied, "It is I. Go and tell your master, 'Elijah is here.'"
9 There he went into a cave and spent the night. The word of the LORD came to him, saying, 'What are you doing here, Elijah?'
32 When the chariot commanders realized he was not the king of Israel, they turned away from pursuing him.
17 'For I was commanded by the word of the LORD: You must not eat bread or drink water there, nor return by the way you went.'
2 And the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
33 When the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel, they stopped pursuing him.
5 When he arrived, he found the commanders of the army sitting together. He said, 'Commander, I have a message for you.' Jehu asked, 'For which one of us?' He replied, 'For you, commander.'
15 Then Naaman and all his entourage returned to the man of God. They stood before him, and Naaman said, 'Now I know that there is no God in all the earth except in Israel. Please accept a gift from your servant.'
12 Their father asked them, 'Which way did he go?' His sons showed him the road the man of God from Judah had taken.
2 Elijah said to Elisha, "Please stay here, for the LORD has sent me to Bethel." But Elisha replied, "As the LORD lives and as you live, I will not leave you." So they went to Bethel.
3 Therefore, say to them: 'This is what the Lord of Hosts says: Return to me,' declares the Lord of Hosts, 'and I will return to you,' says the Lord of Hosts.
4 Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: 'This is what the Lord of Hosts says: Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds.' But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the Lord.
4 Then Elijah said to him, "Please stay here, for the LORD has sent me to Jericho." But Elisha replied, "As the LORD lives and as you live, I will not leave you." So they went to Jericho.
12 One of his servants said, "No, my lord the king; Elisha, the prophet in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom."
13 So the king said, "Go and see where he is, so I can send men to capture him." When he was told, "He is in Dothan,"
18 Elijah replied, "I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father's house have, by abandoning the commandments of the LORD and following the Baals.
