They went backward, not forward. 25 From the day your ancestors came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I sent all my servants the prophets to you, again and again. 26 But they did not listen to me or incline their ear; instead, they stiffened their necks and did worse than their ancestors. 27 When you speak all these words to them, they will not listen to you; when you call to them, they will not answer you. 28 So you shall say to them, 'This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the LORD their God or accept discipline; truth has perished and is cut off from their lips.'
