12Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.
13But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

11See, we consider those who have endured to be blessed. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen the Lord's outcome—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
12Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or earth or any other oath. Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No,’ so that you may not fall under judgment.
13Is anyone among you suffering hardship? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises.
3Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance.
9Resist him, standing firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world.
10But the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered for a little while, will Himself restore, establish, strengthen, and uphold you.

18By His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creation.
19My beloved brothers and sisters, let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.
9Grieve, mourn and weep. Turn your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.
4As a result, we ourselves boast about you among the churches of God for your endurance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.
5This is evidence of God's righteous judgment, so that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
6Since it is just for God to repay those who trouble you with affliction,
18In the same way, you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
3I wrote this very thing to you so that when I came, I would not have sorrow from those who ought to bring me joy. I have confidence in all of you, that my joy is your joy.
19My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you strays from the truth and someone turns them back,
24Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless in the presence of His glory with great joy,
20Yes, you are our glory and joy.
6And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, receiving the message in much affliction with the joy of the Holy Spirit.

13No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But with the temptation, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
17But you, beloved, remember the words that were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.
18Because He Himself has suffered when tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.
5Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever you do for the brothers, especially when they are strangers.
12Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13The seed on the rocky ground represents those who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in times of testing, they fall away.
22Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth so that you have sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart.

5For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know about your faith, lest somehow the tempter had tempted you and our labor might have been in vain.
1So then, my dear and longed-for brothers and sisters, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends.
