7 And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you share in our sufferings, you also share in our comfort.
8 For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of the trouble we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself.
6 In this you rejoice greatly, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,
1 Finally, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, just as you received instructions from us on how you ought to live and please God, that you would excel even more.
8 In the same way, being affectionately desirous of you, we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our very lives, because you had become dear to us.
9 Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our labor and toil. We worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
10 You are witnesses, and so is God, of how devoutly, righteously, and blamelessly we conducted ourselves among you who believe.
11 Just as you know how we dealt with each one of you like a father with his own children,

28 And do not be frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation—and that from God.
15 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
6 I pray that your partnership in the faith may become effective through knowing every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.
7 For I have great joy and encouragement from your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, my brother.
18 In the same way, you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
